Change of signal Intensity of Magnetic Resonance and 2nd-Look Arthroscopic Finding After Cryopreserved Allograft Meniscal Transplantation

Abstract
Recent successful results of allograft meniscal transplantation are based on the many experimental and clinical trials. The purposes of this study are to evaluate the change of signal intensity of cryopreserved meniscal allograft of magnetic resonance
image and to demonstrate viability of the grafts. Three patients underwent meniscal transplantation with cryopreserved allograft and MRI of the knee at l day, 3weeks, 6weeds, 12 weeds and 6 months after implantation. Tissue biopsy was done at 3
months.
At immediate postoperative day, signal intensity of the implanted meniscus revealed homogenous low sig-nal intensity which could differentiated from contralateral meniscus. At 3 weeks, high signal intensity was appeared at the periphery and it
was
increased at 6 weeks. The high signal intensity of the meniscus was decreased slightly at 12 weeks.
Cellular proliferation was found at the central edge of the implanted meniscus at 3 months. It can be con-cluded that in creased signal intensity at 3,6 and 12 weeks represent vascular ingrowth and viability of the implanted cryopreserved
meniscal
allograft.
